Introduction â€Å"Medicare is a Canadian success story. Not perfect, but good enough to be envied by much of the world.† — H.L. Mencken The birth of Medicare was in Saskatchewan on July 1, 1962. Medicare was the first government controlled, comprehensive, universal single payer medical insurance plan in Canada. Many insurance industries and all the medical institutions were against the idea of having Medicare. They feared that Medicare will become popular and will spread across the globe. Once the plan was successful all of Canada was protected by a medical insurance system that was based on the Saskatchewan plan and no politician would be allowed to openly oppose it. In addition, the Canadian health care system is a group of socialized health insurance plan that covers the medical costs of all Canadian citizens. The Canadian health care system is publicly subsidized and overseen on a Provincial and or territorial basis, within guidelines set by the Federal government. Canadian citizens are protected under the health care system, for their medical treatments from primary care physicians, access to hospitals, and addi tional medical services. Every Canadian citizen qualifies for health care coverage regardless of their income, lifestyle, and medical history. Shakespeare had very restricted assets to work with, and so needed his actors and speeches to work for him. His language gives us clues as to how the characters should act and how they should project their personalities to create a sense of realism. In Act 1 Scene 1 Shakespeare writes, ‘take in the topsail’. This here is already having an effect on the audience because it creates tension and suspense, making them anxious and nervous as to what is going to happen next. Both characters try to remain calm, but the use of alliteration catches the attention of the audience. This has the effect of highlighting certain phrases and it also draws attention to the particular words used. Another literary technique is the use of imperatives. For instance, when the Boatswain says ‘Hence!’ to the lords, he is telling them to get out of the way. He orders them to stop talking, ‘Silence!’ which seems to stun Gonzalo, who does not challenge him. This has the effect of emphasising how urgent the situation is. Shakespeare introduces the theme of challenge to authority through the speech of the Boatswain. When the lords come on deck, the Boatswain speaks rudely to them. For instance, he mocks the importance of the king: ‘What cares these roarers for the name of the king?’ The audience now knows that the normal hierarchy is not being kept to, and can expect this theme to be developed in the play. Gonzalo reminds the Boatswain of the important status of his passengers. However the Boatswain replies as if Gonzalo, the king and the lords are his equal in status. As a rising senior, it’s easy to forget how many years have gone by since I arrived at Rutgers University. Accompanying those many years are memories of joy and hardship, which have provided valuable insight and promoted my growth. When I first arrived here on the banks, I came in timid and reserved. I had a large number of high school friends attending the school and had resolved to keep in touch with them rather than making new friends. In fact, if it were not for my roommate, I may not have even gotten close to some of the people in my first year residence hall. Beyond the sheer volume of students that came from my high school to Rutgers, I had grown up in a very diverse and opinionated city. Since my first year, I have become more accustomed to holding conversation with people I do not know. I now teach study groups where students who did not know me at the beginning of the year, are now messaging me on Facebook if I can bring Advil to study group for them. It has become a point of pride for me to build these relationships with people by communicating with them and hearing out there issues to build a circle of trust. As an RA/AA this is an important trait to have as you work towards building your community. As an RA/AA you want your residents to know who you are and you want to be present and know about them personally. Being able to communicate and build these relationships will make the job of being an RA/AA easier as residents will want to engage with you, come to your events, and respect you carrying out your duties rather than viewing you as someone to avoid. While I have grown more antiquated to socializing and building relationships, there is room for me to grow. As much as I enjoy speaking with others, it normally takes a small nudge to get me talking. This is something I need to work on improving as I transition into the role of being an RA/AA, as I need to be the first one to reach out to my residents.
